Hooks

The designation system used in fish hook sizing is as follows:

bulletLarge hooks increase in size as the number increases (i.e. 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, etc.)
bulletSmall hooks decrease in size as the number increases (i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.)

Ever wonder how to tie those knots? One of the best knots overall is known as the "clinch knot". The following diagrams help illustrate how to tie this basic knot (which can be used to tie hooks to leaders, swivels to lines, etc.):
